Board-Certified Anesthesiologist & Pain Medicine Physician

Dr. Abraham J. Fura is a highly skilled and dedicated pain management specialist, currently practicing in Southwest Florida. He completed his fellowship in Multidisciplinary Pain Management at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he gained extensive experience in advanced minimally-invasive spine procedures and performed over 2,500 interventional procedures in just one year.

His passion for pain management was ignited during his residency in Anesthesiology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he was introduced to cutting-edge technologies and had the privilege of caring for active duty military personnel and their families.

Dr. Fura is thrilled to be practicing in Southwest Florida, where he continues to provide expert care to his patients, utilizing his extensive training, military background, and passion for pain management to improve the quality of life for all.

Dr. Fura was born and raised in upstate New York, and graduated summa cum laude from Niagara University with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Chemistry, Commerce, and Social Science. He earned his D.O. from NYCOM in 2010, graduating in the top 3% of his class.

Dr. Fura served as an Army officer from 2006-2018, reaching the rank of Major. He completed his internship and anesthesia residency at Walter Reed, then worked as Staff Anesthesiologist and Chief of Obstetrical Anesthesia at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, leading quality improvement initiatives.

Dr. Fura is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. His research contributions include studies on the efficacy of genicular nerve radiofrequency ablation and experimental biology research on bone’s adaptive response to altered activity patterns.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Fura enjoys weightlifting, boasting a combined bench press, squat, and deadlift total of over 1,100 pounds. He is also an avid golfer with a handicap of 7.0. His dedication to both his patients and personal interests highlights his balanced approach to life and medicine.
